Delta Air Lines opens the largest jet engine test room facility in the world. This is the key to make air travel safer and there are no obstacles.

Launching CNN Travel, Monday (03/04/2019), the building for testing the new engine cell is worth millions of dollars. It is located at the Delta Air Lines headquarters, Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

This giant testing room helps technicians keep the engine strong while pushing airplanes in the air, carrying millions of passengers every year. You can call it a shrine temple, a building designed to handle the big push of a jet engine.

The walls are 3 feet thick or about 1 meter and giant doors weigh 136 tons. Delta calls this the first facility built in the United States in the last 20 years.

Inside the 14-meter-high technician's room there is a strong 8-ton Rolls-Royce Trent XWB jet engine. When ignited, like a hurricane.

How strong is the pressure?

This giant space against the explosion when the engine is turned on as in a state of encouragement to take off. The scale will record a weight of 38.5 thousand kilograms.

Furthermore, a roaring sound into an extraordinary mechanical roar and a human voice might be heard. No one is allowed to be in the room while the engine is racing at full speed.

The room with large doors is controlled from a special room. Doors must be able to withstand extreme air pressure that can occur during testing.

There are other amazing features in this building, like a chimney. When a large jet engine is run all day long, the exhaust gas must also be delivered somewhere.

The temperature of the exhaust gas reaches 800-900 degrees Celsius inside the engine. The extremely hot engine temperature is channeled into a large circular tunnel on the wall that leads to a special room.

Then the gas is released into a giant cylindrical cooling device called an explosion basket. Its function is also to reduce the swift flow of air.

Ventilation in the blast basket spreads the engine exhaust to the entire room. And finally after going through a sound dampening network before exiting the building through the open roof.

Delta and all other airlines are required to keep their fleets safe. This is through routine maintenance checks and replacement of key parts at certain time intervals.

Most of the process includes ensuring the engine and tens of thousands of its parts. So that the engine is ready to fly carrying planes thousands of kilometers across mountains and oceans without breaking down.

The jet engine here is completely dismantled. All parts are inspected and everything is reinstalled and then must come to this facility to be tested again.

This facility is part of Delta TechOps, the maintenance, repair and inspection division that serves the Delta fleet and other airlines. The division also has maintenance contracts with jet engine manufacturers Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney. Unbelieveable!
